The Darktrace Blue Book is a comprehensive overview of the evolving cyber threat landscape and how the Darktrace product suite effectively defends against it. The Blue Book was widely distributed at trade events, as well as used in client meeting to provide an easy to digest company and product overview to potential clients, IT personnel and C-level executives.

The 2018 Blue Book was designed as an overhaul of the past iterations of the book, using new design layout and typography styles. The book was streamlined from past versions with every section being carefully finest in both copy and layout design. The 2018 Blue Book consists of nine clearly divided chapters each focusing on a different aspect of the Darktrace experience.

The Product section of the Blue Book uses large open spreads which allow for product imagery to take focus. This section of the Blue Book highlighted the easy to use nature of the product, demonstrating the visual appeal though in product screen shots. A feature spread was used at the end of the section, showing of the newly revised (at the time) Threat Dashboard and companion mobile app.

The Threat Stories section of the Blue Book is the only dark section of the book, where all pages are displayed in dark blue with red feature imagery. This inverted approach was designed to immediately grab the attention of the reader and draw them in out of curiosity. The threat stories used were selected based on their bizarre and usual details, for instance ‘Financial Data Theft Though a Casino Fish Tank’.

The Customer Support section of the Blue Book was a new section added which provided an overview of the Proof of value process. As well as providing insights about working with Darktrace, and the provided services a Darktrace customer receives. This section used bespoke layouts and colour schemes, like the Threat Stories section, to separate it from the rest of the book and indicate that it required viewing attention.

The Industry Case Study section of the Blue Book, was a new combined section of industry vertices and customer case studies. Each sector which Darktrace catered too was covered with a dedicated spread. The left side of each spread was dedicated to a sector overview, outlining the risks and challenges within the sector. Then the right side would contain a customer case study, validating Darktrace’s expertise in tackling cyber threats within the industry sector. Additional industry customers were included along the bottom of the spread, highlighting important clients within the specific sector.

The last section of the blue book was Industry recognition for the company. This included news articles from prestigious publications such as The Times, Forbes, MIT Tech Review and Fast Companies. An overview of distinguished awards, representing the highest form of industry recognition was included, helping to cement Darktrace as the industry leader in the cyber security landscape.

The Blue Book has been a continues project, including maintenance of news articles and new relevant awards, as well as updating relevant information before each print run. The Blue Book is currently on its 10th print run, having been printed locally in: the UK, US, and Singapore.
